NCERT revises class 8 textbook, removes map showing Jaisalmer as part of Maratha empire

NCERT has removed a disputed map from its Class 8 Social Science English textbook for the 2026-27 academic session. The map, which incorrectly depicted Jaisalmer as part of the Maratha Empire, had faced strong objections from historians and royal families of Rajasthan. This follows its earlier removal from the Hindi version of the textbook.
